Guilsfield 1 Buckley Town 3

Buckley Town made it three wins on the trot in the league with an impressive 3-1 away performance at Guilsfield that has elevated them to 5th place in the table.

The first half was goalless but an entertaining watch as both sides had chances to open the scoring. Buckley hit the woodwork early on and Guilsfield had a hotly disputed penalty shout turned down at a point in the game that it could have swung either way. As the half progressed, Buckley began to get into their game with Aron Williams and Adam Eden giving the Guilsfield full backs a torrid time.

Buckley managed to get the upper hand in the second half and began to dominate the play with the flanks still being the most likely source of a goal that would break the deadlock. If it is not Adam Eden flying down the left wing at you then it is Dylan Roberts who was pulled down in the box giving referee Cheryl Foster an easy decision to make. Aled Bellis stepped up and thumped it home from the penalty spot.

Buckley’s second came from a Jake Roberts corner that Chris Roberts powered home with his head off the underside of the bar.

Guilsfield managed to pull one back to make things interesting before Kieron Moore had the good fortune of a mazy dribble on the left side of the box, close to the bye line, that saw him then fire the ball into the box looking for the oncoming Phil Molyneux on the edge of the six-yard area. The ball struck a defender and fell back at Kieron’s feet and he managed to force the ball over the line from an acute angle to seal the points.

This coming week sees two important home games under the lights as we meet 6th placed Ruthin Town at the Globe on Tuesday night and then 14th placed Holywell Town. Both games will be tough battles as local rivalries are at play and Buckley Town will need to be at their best to get anything out of them. Both matches have a 7:30pm kick off.
