Everyone at Buckley Town sends our best wishes to our former left-back Matty Roberts and hope that he recovers soon.
Matt was out on Thursday running but suffered a suspected cardiac arrest. He was found collapsed and unconscious by passers-by. He is currently in hospital recovering, is now awake after coming round but has been heavily sedated. He is responsive and would seem to be on the mend.
Matt is a local lad from Mynydd Isa and represented the club for many years and well known in local football community having also played in the Huws Gray Alliance for Mynydd Isa, Mold Alex, Holywell Town, and FC Nomads.
Today’s game between Buckley Town Reserves and Gresford Athletic Reserves ended in a 2-2 draw after Tom Gunson & Sam Spridgeon were on target for Buckley Town in a game of missed chances and decisions not given.
William Roberts scored both Gresford’s goals, the second being from the penalty spot.
Goals either side of the break from Callum Humphries and an Aled Bellis penalty were enough for Buckley Town to win an entertaining game at the Globe.
Dean Seager was also on the mark from the penalty spot for Llandudno but Buckley proved too strong in the end for their opponents and took an important three points seeing them move up the league to 11th position and looking forward to meeting leaders Pretayn Town at Bastion Gardens on Friday night.
“A game we should have won, with too many challenges missed and wrong decisions in vital areas. We made opportunities in front of goal but failed to capitalise and were outfought in the air. We were the better team on balance, but it’s two points dropped… we need to start making the most of our chances.”
