On behalf of the FAW Trust, we are hosting a Women’s World Cup Fun Day on 29th June 2019 which is aimed at primary school aged girls 4-11.
This coincides with the Women’s World Cup in France 7th June 2019 to 7th July 2019.
In our catchment area we have four primary schools: Southdown, Mountain Lane, Westwood and Drury and, hopefully, they will all be well represented. There is a total of 517 girl learners in all the schools combined!
The day will start at 10:00 am and finish at 2:00 pm and the aim of the day is to:
- Provide girls of all ages and their families the opportunity to try football for the first time.
- To encourage existing players to enjoy their favourite sport with their friends and siblings.
- To raise the profile of the women’s game as a whole.
The girls will arrive and pick up their passport from ‘Passport Control’ and then go around the ground (The Globe, Buckley) and take part in eight different stations. Each station will be a ‘country’ and they will get their passport stamped as well as having lots of fun! The activities for the girls will be varied and not just football based e.g. there will be face painting, an art area, and Buckley Cricket Club.
