On a bitterly cold and windy night that affected the game during both halves Airbus eased themselves into the semi-finals of the NEWFA Challenge Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Buckley Town.
The Huws Gray Alliance side fielded a strong line up with a mixture of first team and Under-19 players.
The first goal arrived on 15 minutes when Buckley defender Dylan Roberts headed the ball into his own net attempting to clear a Lanceley shot. A second soon followed when Ryan Edwards rounded the keeper Joe Makaruk for a neat finish after being played-in by Blake Robinson.
Buckley played their usual neat football throughout the game but simply could not carve out enough clear-cut chances to make a difference. Jake Roberts had the best chance in the first half after some good approach play by the Buckley team down the left wing but his shot from just inside the box went agonisingly wide of the post with the Airbus keeper well beaten and rooted to the spot.
With the wind behind them in the second half Buckley more than held their own but Airbus continued to raid down the left wing and finally added a third late on when sub Liam Schofield managed to get his toe to a left wing crossed ball that wrong footed Joe Makaruk in the Buckley goal.
Airbus now advance to the last four where they will meet either Holywell Town, Ruthin Town, Queens Park or Mold Alex.
