It was important to get a good result this week after the outing against Shotton in the Cup and before the winter break. The side wanted to make amends and show they deserved to pull on the red jersey of Buckley Town.
This was always going to be a tough game in strong windy conditions. Buckley took advantage in the first half with the wind in their favour and raced into a 2-0 lead with Alan Dawson scoring both goals and Jimmy Turner with 2 great assists. However, confidence was still fragile and some silky skills from Penmaenmawr’s Spanish winger meant they pulled 2 goals back (it is not just the Premier League that attracts the European elite!)
However Buckley held their nerve with Dawson and then Neil Wynne putting them back into the lead with a penalty. Half time came and Buckley knew it was going to be tough with the wind against them. However, they started brightly with a few good chances but slowly got penned in and Penmaenmawr took the game to Buckley scoring another goal.
Brad Carmen the Buckley Town keeper also pulled of a great save from a penalty was conceded and then duly saved on the follow up.
Neil Wynne then went on to relieve the pressure with a well taken goal but Penmaenmawr pulled one back through another penalty. Buckley then managed to see out the game for a 6-4 victory.
Some good performances overall. Dawson for his all round effort and scoring a well deserved hat trick, JimmyTurner for some beautiful assists, Brad Carmen for his penalty heroics and Neil Wynne for consistently being the dynamo in midfield.
All in all a much better effort from the whole team.
