On a bright sunny day, the game postponed from last week finally got under way on a very heavy and bobbly pitch at Rhos Aelwyd that did not make for good football. Both sides tried but there was no real quality from either team that led to clear cut goal scoring chances throughout the game.
Buckley Town probably had the best of the game but Rhos Aelwyd’s defence stood strong throughout.
Like so often in a tight cup tie, the game was won from a defensive error 15 minutes from the end. A right sided free kick was swung high into the box leading to defender and keeper getting in each other’s way and failing to clear the cross. As a result, the ball was forced into the back of the Buckley net.
Buckley tried as best they might to get back into the game and had a highly dubious penalty shout denied late on in the game when Chris Forshaw was dragged down in the box but they could not find that elusive equaliser.
